ABI Patrol K-9 services are specially trained dogs to do specific tasks like search and rescue, drug/bomb sniffing, cadaver searching, or other specialized jobs. However, some dogs will live year-round at their facilities (these might also be called dual-purpose k-9s, where the term “dual-purpose” means that the dog works and lives as a pet with his handler).
The Security Service that owns these dogs will also be responsible for training them. However, we have extensive facilities with hundreds of employees working around the clock to train these dogs. These people are usually referred to as trainers or instructors. It is not uncommon for individuals who work at these places to have advanced degrees in animal behaviour science, criminal justice, or other related areas of expertise.
This service usually entails following up on tips that other officers have received; tips like -we were driving down such a street, and suddenly we saw someone running with what looked like a duffle bag full of something suspicious. We turned the car around, but he was gone by the time we got back, but maybe you should check this neighbourhood out.
These dogs are used as one more investigative tool for law enforcement officials. However, some of them are also trained specifically to search for Special Needs Kids who have gone missing, animals who might be lost or trapped, and other various tasks.
In the end, Our K-9 services are an essential part of law enforcement. We provide a service in such a way that helps officers do their jobs more effectively and efficiently.
